The Constitution of Romania provides article 12, paragraph 1 that "The flag of Romania is tricolor; the colors are arranged vertically in the following order from the flagpole: blue, yellow, red". The proportions, shades of color as well as the flag protocol were established by law in no. 75 from 16 iulie 1994.

Climate

Romania has four seasons :Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and because of its position on the southeastern portion of the European continent, the country has a climate which ranges from temperate to continental.

Climatic conditions are somewhat modified by the country's varied topography.The Carpathians serve as a barrier to Atlantic air masses, limiting their oceanic influences to the west and center of the country (Transylvania, Banat and Maramureș), which have milder winters and heavier rainfalls.

 

The beauty of Romania

Romania as you saw in the map is a country located in Europe and the capital is Bucharest.Romania is a beautiful country with mountains, caves, beautiful landscapes and beaches. Also, here like a tourist you can find: legends, churches, monasteries, old castles with a great history and beautiful historical monuments.

At the same time, it is a mixture between old and now, magic and reality, positive energy and negative energy and here is the place where you are free to choose, what kind of experience you want to have, while traveling through the country.

The mountains

The Bucegi Mountains are part of the Carpathian Mountain Range that spans six European countries; however, the bulk of the Carpathians are located in Romania

The Bucegi Mountains, with an area of about 300 km2, is located at the eastern extremity of the Meridional Carpathians, located between Prahova Valley andIalomita Valley. The mountain range goes up to 2505 m at the highest point is Omu.

According to one of the many legends, the Carpathians are crossed by underground tunnels so long that reach hundreds of kilometers. No one can say whether they were man-made or natural force.

As mentioned by enthusiasts who have studied closely the "phenomenon", if it is to be seen from above, these tunnels wouldn't seem a chaotic maze through the mountains, but these tunnels have the form of lines that represent the image of a huge wolf, with an open mouth, as when cast on prey. Also, the Dacic flag was represented by an wolf.

Another point of attraction is Transfăgărășan, which is one of the most spectacular roads in the world with a length around 151 km.

Caves

There are more than 12, 000 caves in Romania, many of them having been discovered hundreds of years ago, and every cave has unique features that are sure to impress each tourist.

The longest cave in Romania is Vantului Cave, located in Munții Pădurea Craiului (the Forest Craiului Mountains) with a lengh by 47 km.

Scarisoara cave or Glacier Scărişoarahosts the largest underground glacier in Romania. Hence it is called the "glacier" and "Scărişoara" the name coming from the village of Scarisoara, which is located 16 km below.. It has a length by 720 m and a depth by 105 m, 100,000 cubic meters of ice.

Women's Cave is in Baia de Fier, Gorj and has a length by 700 m. The first written information about Women's cave, dates from 1870. Legend.

When the men had to leave to war, women took their children and they stood there hidden in the cave, and in summer when it was hot they spent time next to the cave because there it was cool. 

Peleș Castle is a Neo-Renaissance castle in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, on an existing medieval route linking Transylvania and Wallachia, built between 1873 and 1914. Its inauguration was held in 1883. It was constructed by Charles I.

Built in the 14th century, Corvinilor Castle represents one of the most amazing and well-preserved medieval buildings, being in fact the most famous property of Iancu de Hunedoara, building that even today dominates the city of Hunedoara.

Located 30 km from Brasov, Bran Castle was built of stone, most likely in 1377 on the foundations of an ancient fortifications erected by Teutonic. Also, Bran Castle is a historical and architectural monument located in Bran-Rucar. “Brana” means “gate” in Slavic. It is one of the most famous landmarks and monuments in Romania. It is famous for being the home of the vampire Count Dracula – one of the characters in Bram Stoker’s horror novel Dracula.

Festival "Medieval Sighisoara" is an annual festival held the last weekend of July in the city of Sighisoara.

Another beautiful thing which originated from Romania is a traditional dance.  The Călușari were the members of a Romanian fraternal society who practiced a ritual acrobatic dance known as the căluș and their ability to create the impression of flying in the air is very impressive for the public. So, what can I say about this dance? it's hard and beautiful at the same time.

The Danube Delta is the second largest river delta in Europe, after the Volga Delta, and is the best preserved on the continent.The Danube Delta has three arms and their length is Chilia( 120 km), Sulina( 64 km), and Sfântul Gheorghe (Saint George) (70 km).
 

The climate of the Danube Delta is continental, with strong influences from the vicinity of the Black Sea. The Danube Delta falls within the Pannonian steppe ecosystem of eastern Europe, with Mediterranean influences. As a young region in full process of consolidation, the Danube Delta represents a very favourable place for the development of highly diverse flora and fauna, unique in Europe, with numerous rare species.

Decebal's face is a rock carving on the Danube, located between Eşelniţa and Dubova, near Orşova. The biggest stone carving carried out in Europe and its total size of 55m high and 25m widt.Decebal's face was built in the Small Boilers( Cazanele Mici) on the left bank of the Danube in Mraconia bay/ golf.

Constantin Brancusi was a Romanian sculptor with overwhelming contributions to the renewal of vision and language arts in contemporary sculpture. We can find his sculptures in Târgu Jiu.

The most significant events

On 6th January the Romanians celebrate one of the most important celebrations called Boboteaza or Epiphany, but it is most commonly called Boboteaza.

Epiphany ends the cycle of the 12 days of the holiday season starting on Christmas Eve. This period is the most important for Orthodox Christians.

In Drobeta Turnu Severin a priest will throw the cross into the Danube and also in Constanța, a priest will throw the cross into the Black Sea. Those few men that are strong swimmers will try to be the first to bring it back to shore. The first arriving at the cross can keep it, and all year he will have luck and prosperity.

Priests sanctify water for people and animals. This sanctified water will do wonders for sick people, of course if they believe in the powers of the water.

Dragobetele is a holiday celebrated on February 24 by Romanian people and its correspondent is Valentine's Day. While the young people celebrate both of them, the old people prefer Dragobetele.
 

On March 1 women and girls receive charms from men and boys and wear them during March as a sign of the arrival of spring. Mărțișorul is a small ornamental object linked to a string of white thread stitching and a red, appearing in Roman tradition and neighboring populations. The Geto-Dacian mention that the new year began on 1 March. Thus, the month of March was the first month of the year.
 

The popular calendar of the Dacians had two seasons: summer and winter. Marțișorul was a kind of talisman meant to bring luck offered by the new year with wishes for good health, love and joy. On the other hand, the red and white twine represent the merging between the seasons. It can be made from plastic, gold and silver.

On 8th March we celebrate the International Women's Day, but also we called it the Mother's Day. In this day women are celebrated by men, but more often, children prepare cards at school and flowers for mothers.

Union of 1 December 1918 is Romania's National Day celebrated annually as National Day 1990.

  The feast commemorates Assembly in Alba Iulia and union of the provinces of Bessarabia, Bukovina, Transylvania, Banat, Crisana, Maramures and Satu Mare with Romania.

National Day is a public holiday in Romania so banks, public offices, and many private businesses are closed. Some parts of big cities are closed, for military parades,  public speeches given by national leaders in cities such as Bucharest and in Alba Iulia which is the union city.
